Animator, Editor, Colorist

Riel (they/she) is a queer artist and storyteller based in Boston, MA. A versatile creative with 16 years of experience to draw from, Riel tells surreal stories through live-action video and multimedia animation. They graduated with a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design with a focus in Film, Animation and Video in Providence, RI. Riel currently works as a freelance editor and animator, often in support of the Boston drag community.

Artistic Approach

Riel's practice explores the liminal spaces between our familiar reality and the unknown worlds beyond through stories set in expansive universes, populated with impossible creatures and sympathetic monsters, and recounted with a surreal touch. They take particular joy in hand-crafting entire new worlds that can hold a mirror to our own.
